Jake started playing gigs when he was 11, both with a big band and a smaller quintet. He continued gigging and toured Poland, Spain, Paris, Ireland, Switzerland, Czech Republic, Italy, and also made an appearance with the quintet on BBC Southern Radio. At the age of 14, he joined the Merton Youth Jazz Orchestra, playing regularly across London in venues such as Fairfield Halls, Croydon, and the Royal Albert Hall, London. Jake also plays a regular slot at Wimbledon Lawn Tennis Club championships.

He took part in the Music For Youth Competition, and was 'highly commended' with very favorable personal comments made regarding the rhythm section.

Jake was the principle drummer for Pete Churchill's Jazz Oratorios, a gospel/funk/jazz based performances, both performed at the Royal Albert Hall: 'Babel' (2005) and 'David & Goliath' (2007).

He has recently composed music for the theatre production 'Fen', performed by St. Mary's University College, and composed for a short promotional film about the play 'Cancer Tales' by Nell Dunn.

In the summer of 2007, Jake attended the National Jazz Services summer school, held at Leeds College of Music, with tutors including Mark Lockheart, Anders Bergcrantz, Alec Dankworth, Liam Noble, Kathy Dyson, Nic France and Tim Garland.

Jake is currently studying Jazz Percussion on the BMus Royal Academy of Music Jazz course. He is also teaching privately and works under the name of Basswood Designs building and designing Websites, Video Production and Photography.
